A man armed with an air rifle shot at least two people in Birmingham city centre before he was arrested. Police were called to Aston Street just after 6pm on Saturday night following reports of gunshots fired through the window of a house. A number of people were inside when the incident happened. One woman suffered a graze wound to her arm while another man was injured in his back. Both victims were taken to hospital. Officers said there were no other injuries and the man was arrested. The shooting took place less than 24 hours after five men were stabbed during a fight in Birmingham city centre. The incident happened shortly after 5pm on Saturday afternoon in the Bullring shopping centre. Witnesses told of seeing several groups of men fighting in the centre. At one point, a man pulled out a knife and started stabbing others. Five men were taken to hospital with stab wounds. Two of them remain in a stable condition. The fifth victim was treated at the scene and released.
